Dr Barba Patients Support Group???
If you have Dr Barba for your surgeon you're certainly going to NEED some support.
I just had a revision a few weeks ago by a different and HIGHLY QUALIFIED bariatric surgeon. the story is way too long to get into here, but thank GOd for Dr. R. He has saved my life and I now have real belief that I am actually going to be able to eat food like regular folks without throwing up. So far, I've had some scrambled egg and tuna and NO PROBLEMS!! Trust me, that deserves capital letters since it's the first time i've been able to eat that stuff since 2004 without it instantly regurgitating.
My advice to you is to look at many many surgeons. Niceness is great, but it won't save your life when you're perforated and suffering peritonitis (as I did 3 years ago), and it won't hold your hand when you vomit everything except the softest of food (cream of wheat). as I have since my original surgery.
Professionalism and knowing the human body? That's what's important. My new surgeon "retrofitted" me a few weeks ago with a new stomach and I am feeling fine.
As a word of advice: check on the state judicial branch web site and look up civil lawsuits by party name. See if the doctor you've chosen has any pending medical malpractice suits against him or her.
