I was trying to avoid asking this on the board but I must. I had my period the day of my surgery on August 9th. It was light and went away a couple days after. Did not get it again till last night but a few days before and currently the cramps are unbearable. The kind you are forced to double over in pain. I have alot of back pain too. ( which my mom says "Oh, that means when you finally have a baby you'll probably have back labor and that's the worst...lol Don't you just love Moms? ) So getting to my point. Pre-op I lived on Advil, Aleve or Motrin 800's when it was that time of the month and it helped soooo much but now that I'm post-op I'm told all I can take is Tylenol. I don't know about all of you but it does Squat. So... is there anything else out there? Is there something prescription wise I can take? I had 3 of the pain pills left from surgery. It did help a little with my back but did nothing for the cramps. What to do. I've been putting heat patches on my back and a ho****er bottle on my front to get some relief. I'm just thankful this is happening over a week before i start my new job and not the day of. Wouldn't that have been a stinker? lol By the way I did speak to my gynocologist about birth control (which I've seen mentioned from time to time ont he boards) he didn't recommend I start the pill, shot or anything right now. He wants me to put it off as much as possible so I dont have to deal with the hormonal effects and possible weight issues. So it's No Glove, No Love. At least I still have my sense of humor, right? I'm at the point right now that I'm ready to take an ambien and sleep my period away...just kidding but it is an idea Well, I mumbled and whined enough. Thanks for letting me air my female issues. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Any input is greatly appreciated. TIme to go refill my ho****er bottle. ~Julie~

Julie- Motrin was my friend before surgery too. I have had the same problem with periods and just lived through it. I plan on asking Dr. A when I see him on the 19th. Maybe you should call and ask Lois.. Tylenol does nothing for me either. Feel better-- Joanie

HAHAHA@no glove, no love! Hilarious! I take Advil Liquid-Gels. I used to have to take 800mgs of Motrin to take care of cramps or headaches. Now I take 200mgs of the Advil Liquid-Gels and I'm good to go. I don't know why, or how, but it works wonders. I am sorry to hear of the pain you are in. Were you always this irregular? I mean 2.5 months of no period? Heating pad .. I take mine wherever I go. Tara

Hi there, to answer your question...yes, have always been irregular and all the Dr.'s say its because of my weight. At one time I could go up to six months without getting it then boom I would pay for it and have my period for 2-3 months straight. Thank god that hasn't happened in a long time. For years I was on Birth control but went off it last year. The pas 6 months have been like this and my female Doc isn't concerned. He said if I start going more than 3 months then he will put me on something to regulate me. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for the input. I was told I can never take Advil again and that it can hurt my pouch so I'd rather be safe than sorry. Bye for now. Isn't being a woman just grand? ~Julie~ Miss our chats Girly...

Oh Julie, I feel for you girl. I too lived on Advil for my periods. They were unbearable! I finally talked to my pcp who sent me to a gynecologist, who finally decided I needed an endometrial ablation (which stopped the bleeding immediately and is supposed to relieve heavy bleeding and PMS symptoms in 90% of women). But it's not good if you want to ever have children. It's better for us premenopausal women. I was lucky enough to get it in before surgery. Tylenol does nothing for me either. Talk to the doc about something stronger. Pam

Pam, Did you already have the ablation? My gynecologist reccommended this for me to stop my mennorhagia but it sounded really painful and I have opted to stay on Depo instead. If you prefer you can email me privately at [email protected]. Thanks. Eileen

Advil is a no-no sweetie. In any form. They are a NSAID, one of the pouch burners. If anyone needs a list of meds NOT to take I will repost it. Peter ps. I don't now what you are complaining about. I have yet to have had my period since surgery and feel just fine.

I am going thru similar pains today and yesterday. I have really sharp pains in my abdemon. I took 2 Tylenol a few hours ago but it didn't really help. And This is the first time I have had these type of pains ever. I am hoping its just women problems!

Dr Bell said thats not true. We can take advill and motrin after surgery. Some doctors dont allow it but he does. Who is your doctor. You should be asking them and only them.
