Last meals
Dr. Bell did not make me fast..nor did I have to do any pre op diet...He said just to "eat lightly" for a few days before surgery...and that was it! I had fried scallops and chinese food...neither of which I have had since July 25, 2007--I have tried the fried scallops but to this day chinese food makes me sick--Dr. Bell says it is pschological...I say it is a blessing!
you are certainly not weak! just human!
best of luck

Here is the conclusion that I came to when I was at the same point you are just about 4 yrs ago.... I planned the "last meal" foods that I knew I would probably not eat again post-op. I ate many of them.... spacing them out. What I finally came to was that (and this was a huge revelation for me) that I would NEVER find a food that would FILL THE VOID that I thought food filled.
So it was then that I had my last meal food (don't even remember what it was)... probably cheese cake! It was actually freeing to realize that food was not going to fix me.
That said... have fun with some prudence saying so long to those beloved foods.
ENJOY EVER SINGLE BITE. Embrace it and then say... see ya!!!!
Part of the journey.

Dr Aranow didn't make me fast, but, the day before, I did go to the shore and had twin lobsters! Lots of melted butter...no sides (not interested), just all the great lobster meat. Yummy.
I do love shellfish to this day, but in smaller quantities...
I say, go for it...

330+/230/200 (originally got down to 200, but gained 30 back) :-(

Before my surgery we had a weekend of my favorite places for dinner. It was a fun weekend as a family as we drove to the shore & worked our way back.
We started off with my favorite spot for an appetizer...
Went to my favorite Italian Restaurant for the main course
Believe it or not I never made it to Friendly's for the huge Sundae that I wanted. I was too
full.. LOL...
I still go to my favorite places to eat.. just smaller portions & I choose healthy (Grilled/Broiled)
over deep fried etc...
You will be able to "eat" after you are farther along in your WLS journey.. you'll find you will re-assess your food choices & it'll be 2nd nature to choose better.
I cut out refined sugars, carbs, & diet soda 8 months before my WLS surgery. As I knew these were triggers for me & I knew I wouldn't be able to tolerate them after surgery. It was the best thing I did to get prepared nutritionally. I actually had 2-3 weeks of "withdrawal" symptoms.
I agree with everyone.. definately go out & have those things you would like. You're not being weak.. it's realistic & it's not going to un-do everything that you're going to accomplish with the WLS.
