Life Insurance

Just an interesting tidbit I just learned about. My hubby & I have had life insurance for years but were recently contacted by our car and home insurance company trying to recruit us for life insurance.  We decided to let them give us a quote just to see if they  were cheaper and to my surprise I found out they consider me a "high risk" due to having WLS!!! I'm not sure if I'm just stunned or really pissed.  Anyway, the quote they gave us was completely outrageous considering I'm in the best shape I've been in in over 25 years!!!  112 pounds lighter, no more high cholesterol, no more high blood pressure and never a single complication from WLS in almost 3 years!!! Anyway, I thought I'd pass this info along.  If you're pre-op and already have life insurance, now would be the time to consider increasing your coverage or if you don't have coverage you might want to look into getting a quote now before you have surgery....

I would shop around and ask more questions. This sounds a bit like discrimination to me. Insurance companies are notorious for telling us we are costing them more money when in actuality we are not. Sounds fishy to me.

You'd think that it would be the other way around...that's what I thought you were going to say, that it was SO much cheaper... That needs to be investigated...call the attorney general's office or some gov. agency and ask why... Paula
