Good Morning- After my big milestone yesterday--I had a great eating day until about 6pm. I had my chicken for dinner...had a friend over and decided to thaw out some shrimp..not bad..had a few. After she left..there was a loaf of Italian bread on the counter the kids had been eating...I cut myself a slice put BUTTER on it...(just a bit)...the proceeded to do this two more times!! It all went down well...which scares me. After talking about how I need to stay away from carbs..I have a setback the same night! Needless to say--I feel awful today. I am going to try to be good. B-hard boiled egg S-Protein drink L-Roast beef and string cheese with mustard, salad w/lite dressing S-Momentum bar D-roast beef with vegies NO CARBS! Have a wonderful day! Joanie

Hi Joanie! I'm not doing so well food wise. I was doing terrific, but now not having a surgery date is really killing me. So, my food choices aren't the best. But, I'll be honest and let you know what I"m eating. Have you tried the Detour bar? Maggie gave me one and it was terrific. I'm going to pick up a few once I am able to eat solids after my surgery. I wonder if they are the same as the Momentum bar. B - bagel L - vegetable soup D - chicken and rice S - Hopefully anything but doritos. ;) I have some fat free pudding - I'll have that.

I tried the Detour bars..they are lots of calories..and seemed too sweet for me. The momentums are less protein though(12g...150 calories) Joanie

Joanie -- Those carbs ... wish we could put electric fences around ourselves or the carbs so we got a little shock every time we got near them!! But on a bad day that might not stop me either (i.e., PMS days). Don't be too hard on yourself. You're just getting to a point where you can tolerate them & it messes with your head. It's normal to feel that old craving. Just get back on the horse, as they say. I'll do a no-carb dance for you. Today's yummy menu: B: Carb Countdown Peach Yogurt Smoothie S: V-8 juice L: Asian salad w/chicken & low-fat dressing S: Protein Plus Bar D: Salmon, cauliflower S: No sugar added ice pops Have a good day -- no beating yourself up!! XO Kathy

Hi Joanie, Don't beat yourself up about it, we are human and give in to cravings on occasion. I am eating carbs, not very many, but enough to satisfy me. I am not eating sugar at all since that is MY downfall. I can have trouble with carbs if I am not careful. What I have found when I need to eat something crunchy is these pretzel pieces flavored with honey and mustard. They are broken up pieces of little nuggets and very flavorful. I put a handful in a little bowl, just enough to satisfy me, and I eat them one at a time really slowly. I wait until late night to avoid the "going back for more" syndrome. I am sure others will disagree with me, but I do not want to diet anymore. I want to eat as much like a normal person as possible, just way way less and much healthier. I am still getting in my protein first, and I don't eat those snacks all the time. I don't want to set myself up for "deprivation mode" where I will eventually go crazy and binge. Sorry for the long ramble here, just wanted to let you know you are not alone, and be nice to yourself, ok? You deserve it. On the menu today: B- Carb countdown yogurt S- Protein shake L- turkey on a whole wheat wrap D- Not sure, have "Spooky Scary Night" at kindergarten tonight. S- Protein bar. Have a good day everybody! Anne- Those are smart words..I just wish I can do the moderation thing with the carbs...seems like one bite and its all over! You are right..tho...this is all a learning process and I am not going to beat myself up over three small pieces of bread. Have fun at Spooky-Scary night...let us know how it went. This is my first year without a Halloween Parade..in about 12 years..my youngest just started middle school... Joanie
