Hi - wondering if anyone has the new "Realize" band...

Hi, I am brand new here.  I have just attended a seminar on WLS, and I left feeling confident that the Band is the right choice for me.  I heard about the new "Realize" band and wondered if anyone out here has it...

I've never heard of the "realize" band - what is it?

Hi, It's the latest band by Johnson & Johnson - see this link: http://www.realizeband.com/dtcf/pages/home.htm The Dr. said that "Lap Band" is a brand name - like "Kleenex" - however everyone calls all gastric bands Lap Bands, like everyone calls a tissue a Kleenex!  It's a newer design, same concept, of course. Have you already had the band?  I am looking for people who have success stories, can inspire me and make me feel less nervous about the whole idea of this surgery. Jen

I would think it's the preference of the surgeons and their experiences with the different bands, etc. You'd have to call around to ask what brand these surgeon's use. Paula

Hi RealityCheck!   I attended my first seminar about 1 year ago and although I was convinced that the Band was what I wanted I sit here with the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and I couldn't be happier.  I am 12 weeks out and I have lost 37 lbs. If you are not familiar with the VSG please take some time to do a little research about it.  It's been the best thing I have ever done and I am losing weight with no side effect.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
