Am I off to a good start?
Today is the start of my protein diet.So far I ate 6oz of canned tuna in water (dry). I had one cup of chicken broth, I took my potassium pill and my vitamin(multi). But I had problems eating the whole can of tuna I figure since I really only eat 2 meals a day I had to squeeze the whole can in cause me and tuna are not the best of friends. I almostd trying to eat it all so I stopped think the little I left will hurt?I understand that I should have nine full ounces of meat. But My kitchen is not equipped with a food scale and I have been looking around for one could not find one. They tell you to measure you food equal to a deck of cards. I need a easier way to do this I think I will just deli meat it for the next 4 days but I was wondering what number should I tell them to cut my meat on the instructions say 4 thin slices equal 3 ozs. And by the way I took out pork chops for dinner and I got my deck of cards out to see how this will measure up lol. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
If you are a little under or over, don't worry too much! I didn't have a food scale and just guessed and did fine! I got a food scale at Linen's n Things for $6, and still haven't used it! Glad I bought the cheap one! For deli meat, I bought pre-packaged meat. They were all 1oz per slice, so it made it really easy! thin slices should be about 3oz though. I also bought the pouches of tuna (7oz i think).... ate 2 slices of ham for breakfast, then divided the tuna between lunch and dinner.... You could do the same with the can and make the 3rd meal 3 slices....
Good luck!!

(smiles) Eating a whole can of DRY tuna woulld be tough for anyone who isn't a cat! I know - I've tried it and won't again!
As for a food scale, I got one at the local Stop and Shop. I don't remember how muc hit was, but I know it was under $10. Ask at your store's pharmacy and see if they can tell you where in the store they might be. Mine was right in front of the pharm.
From what I've been told, a 4-ounce portion of meat IS the size and thickness of a deck of cards, or the palm of your hand, if that's easier.
