Appointment with Surgeon Today (Dr. Barba)

Hi, Everyone. First of all I want to say Thanks to everyone who posts and supports others. I read the boards daily and don't post all that often. I have my appointment today at 2PM with Dr. Barba. I am so nervous!! I am pretty sure that I have not kept off the weight that I lost between my nutrition appointments I have been very stressed out and haven't really been watching what I have been eating. I had a few things happen in my life recently that I just had to deal with and didn't have time or energy to think about what I was eating. I'm afraid he's going to tell me I have to loose more weight and I have to wait longer. But I have gotten back on track with watching what I eat and I also joined a gym. (Fitness World) My husband and a friend from work joined with me and its fun and a great stress reducer. Did anyone who had Dr. Barba gain back a few pounds before surgery and were still ok'd for surgery? Thanks for listening.... I feel a little less stressed!

Amy -- I don't have experience with Dr. Barba so I can't help you there. My advice on the weight loss issue if he has a concern is to be honest about what issues you had in your life & how they affected your stress level, and be sure to tell him that you've gotten on track & joined the gym, etc. -- proof that you're taking your commitment seriously. It's very hard when life gets in the way!! It's natural to be nervous before going when you're in the approval process. But this too shall pass, and you'll be on your way soon. Good luck! Kathy F.

Hey Amy, Not to fear!!! I went for my first appt with Dr Barba yesterday (thursday) and had gained oh about 6 lbs back. That is not at all what the appt is about. You are weighed and vitals taken. But it is more about questions you have and they go over all the risks, procedure....all that stuff. They great news is they do take the time and listen to you!!! LVOE THOSE PEOPLE! I didn't have Dr Barba, I had his asst Dr Giovanni. She is great. Met her a couple of times at the support meetings. She answered all my questions in full!!! Best of luck and ps I couldn't eat all day I was so nervous! Carrie

Thanks I am so happy Dr. Barba said I'm a good candidate for surgery and they will be calling me next week with an appointment!! WOOHOO! They also said that he's booking in January now. I was thinking December but that's ok! My job is extremely busy around Christmas so I'm glad I won't be out during that time. (I'm the manager at a shelter for Homeless Families) I'm so glad he didn't even mention my 3 lbs weight gain. The wait at his office was quite long about 2 hrs I think, but that was ok with me. Except for the fact that I was extremely nervous and couldn't sit still lol.
