Made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HI....I just wanted to say that I had open RNY on December 16, 2003 and here it is 10 months exactly today and I am now at my goal weight of 135 pounds BMI 21.1(normal). I started with a BMI of 36.8 at 245 pounds (severely obese).
I have no regrets having the surgery, I would do it again in a heartbeat. I look at pictures from before and cannot believe that I was that big before. I always thought I was okay looking then, but now that I look at the pictures it makes me sick to my stomach .....lol
I even have showed some of the pictures to the people that have told me "you don't need the surgery, you're not that big." They can't believe it either ....lol
I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to have this surgery done.
Dr. Aranow is great and the work he does is great and I would recommend him to anyone who is considering having the surgery done.
Good luck to all the pre and post ops, its a long bumpy road ahead but I will tell you now, it is WELL WORTH IT!!!!!
Take Care
CONGRATULATIONS!
I am (was) in the same boat. Slightly larger than you, my BMI was 38 - 5'8" and 250. I heard a lot of "You aren't big enough for this surgery". Even now at 172 pounds people are telling me that I am skinny and there is a huge difference. I have 25 pounds to go to reach goal. Maybe people just didn't want to offend us?
Way to go!
Tara
Congratulations to you! I also got the "I didn't think you were big enough" comment. I was 259 lbs at 5'2 and getting bigger and bigger. I have lost 54 lbs so far with many more to go till I reach my goal of 132. I agree I would do this again in a minute. Thanks for sharing. You are really an inspiration!
