Just venting!
Ok some of this is repete info and some of this is new. I have been sick off and on since Easter. Mostly on. On Easter I thought I ate too much, too fast, too rich. Hard not to eat too rich in and Italian family. I was good until dessert and then I just ate something that did not go down. One minute I was fine the next I was running outside to since someone was in the only bathroom. Well that Friday night I started the dry heaves and couldn't stop. I ended up in the E.R. on Saturday. They got me hydrated and the heaves stopped. I had a C-T scan on the pouch and Pouchie looks good and "normal" for a post-op. After that they released me since the heaves had stoped and everything was fine. I went to work on Sunday and left early since I was having the heaves again. Called the doc on call again and was admitted. The next day, Monday the 31st, I had my first scope. I was told in the hopital that I had a stricture. Fast foward a weekish. I was starting to feel crappy like I did the week of Easter. I called Dr. A's office to get an appt. I got one for the 14th. I also got that one cancelled since dear Dr.A was in surgery all day and wasn't going to make it back. I got another one the next day but I say him that night at a meeting he was having for legislative reform. I jokingly asked if he was going to cancel tomorrow too since he was on call. He asked what was wrong and I told him I thought the stricture was back and he told me I didn't have one that I had an esophageal web and it was a birth defect. He told me who to call and to cancel my appt with him. I called the G.I. doc and saw someone on the 17th. I went in for another scopie thing this past Monday and this time I had a stricture! Well, Tuesday I started the heaves again and I went home early from work on Wednesday, same thing. I have ben out since then and I feel like crap. I can't really do anything until Monday when the G.I doc's office opens. I do get to go see Dr. A on Wednesday for my 3 month check up. I am down 83 pounds since Jan 15th. I am just frustrated that I am feeling so blech and can't get better.

Kathy - I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy...I imagine that must damper your happiness about your weighloss. I've heard that strictures can reoccur several times. What is the plan of action - if they said on monday that you had a stricture, did they fix it while they were in there? I'd page your GI doc over the weekend. You don't want to get dehydrated. Hope you are feeling better soon - keep us updated.
Kathy,
I'm so sorry that you're feeling so badly. Why would Dr A say that you didn't have a stricture when you did? I don't get him sometimes....
Who's the GI doc he sent you to? I know do you like him? I know that one old member from here and also a doc A patient had a terrible experience with the GI doc that Dr A sent her to.
If you feel so badly, make sure you call someone, as to not get dehydrated. Can you keep anything down?
Keep us all posted. At least you've had good experiences with Middlesex ER and getting admitted. I had an awful experience 9 mos out with pains and Aranow on vacation and ER did NOTHING. Iived in RI then and the hour drive each way to get nothing done was VERY frustrating..

The nurse told me it was a stricture the first time not Dr. A. He sent me to Dr. Koobation at Middlesex Gastroenterology Associates. When they call and answer the phones they say Middlesex GI. It's in the same complex as Dr. A on the back in the green roof building. So far I have just been frustrated with them since I am still sick. I am drinking as much as I can and have started the Gateraid G2 (it's the low carb one. Low in sugar)

keep doing protei shakes so that you get your protein in...if the vanilla or chocolate are bad for you, get some of the kool aid type Isopure ones at Vitamin Shoppe...GNC near Target in Windsor has them, too...a bit more expensive, but less hassle than driving to Manchester...
Keep on the docs...it's easy these days to slip through the cracks if you don't keep calling and bugging them! That's what we pay them for...and if the GI is a hassle, get Dr A to call them for you...That what he's here for, after all...
