Kathy, Even though I have never met you, I wanted you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you on your journey to the losing side. I hope all goes well for you on Monday, there will be many angels watching over you as you prepare to go on the losing journey. I hope and pray I have as much support and friends like you have when I have my surgery in January 2005. Again, God Bless and all the best to you on this wonderful journey. Kim Callahan Milford, CT

Hi Kathy, I know about the mixed feelings that you are currently experiencing. Two weeks ago I was in the same position. One thing that really helped me get through the weekend was to realize that I did all the right things up to the time of my surgery, but that it was time to admit that the control was no longer in my hands. You are confident in Dr. Aranow's abilities as was I, so think positively that everything will be ok. Focus on last minute details and your family for the next couple of days, that will make the time pass in a more peaceful manner. I will be thinking of you next week and am sure that you will come through with flying colors. Best to you, Lori

Kathy, my darling Angelette, You are going to come through this with flying colors. You've taken the necessary steps, done your homework, and now the last step is right here. Open the door, Kathy. Walk thru. This is a new chapter in your life and you're going to rise to the occasion. I'll be seeing you next week, in the hospital. Hun, tell Nicky you'll be just fine! OH...Ethan caught on to signing right away!! I was shocked...he signed better than I do! Love, your lifelong friend, -Deb

Kathy, I know that you have all kinds of emotions going on right now. I was scared, excited, nervous, and hopeful all at once. It is all very normal and something you just can't help. So I pray for you to have calm nerves and that you will have peace of mind on Monday morning. I can say that only 3 1/2 weeks out I am already feeling many benefits of the surgery and am very happy that I had it. I know that you will be feeling this too in a very short while. You will certainly be an excellent patient with all your preparation and wonderful attitude. I really think having a positive attitude helps get you out of that bed the 1st couple of days to do that walking.... okay, the threat of Dr. Aranow coming into your room to catch you idle was pretty motivating too. Anyway Kathy, as others have said, you are such a wonderful source of support for everyone here and your genuine concern and caring for people is truly inspiring. I am glad we can be here for you now. Kathy, you have been and will be in my prayers all weekend and of course on Monday as you take this brave step toward your good health. I also will pray for Nicky and your family that they won't be too worried. I can't wait to visit you on Wednesday. Enjoy the weekend and best wishes for a smooth and uneventful surgery!!!! YOU MADE IT!!!!!!!! WAHOOO!!!!!!! your friend, Terri

Hi Kathy, I'm warming up your seat on the loser's bench and just waiting for you. So many wonderful things and experiences you have to look forward to. So many dreams to realize, so many happy and healthier days ahead. You can't imagine how your life will change!!! I'm so very happy that your day is almost here. You're ready, you've done all your homework, researched well, asked questions and are well prepared. You've given so much to all of us in your own special way and now it's our turn to give back. That's what this group is all about, being there for each other. God bless you, your family and Dr. Aaranow and his staff. Lots of hugs coming your way, Mary Lou

Hi, Kathy! Since it's now early morning on Saturday, by the time you read this you'll be able to say, "My surgery is the day after tomorrow!" You are such a warm, giving person. I'll never forget how you welcomed me to my first support group meeting in August and invited me to come to the dinner on Sept. 11th. And what a big hug you gave me when you arrived at that dinner! That was the start of such a feeling of acceptance, help and caring from everyone here on this board. With all the thoughts and prayers coming your way on Monday, not to mention a little thing like Dr. A's skill , I'm sure you'll come through with flying colors! I'll be looking on the board for updates about you Monday. If I don't see you before, I'll see the new, smaller you on Nov. 20th. Hugs, Debby
