Hi all, I am 2 1/2 weeks out and following the puree stage pretty well. At first it was really hard to get the 2oz meal of protein in in one sitting, I had to go back to it. But I noticed yesterday and today that I can finish the 2oz in about 45 mins comfortably. I also notice that fluids are going down much easier. Is it normal for this to happen so soon? I had a couple of times since surgery when I swallowed too much water, or had an uncomfortable feeling of fullness from eating, but stopped and waited before continuing. I am so afraid that I am going to stretch it out or something. I also am going through feelings like I don't think the surgery worked. I am stalled at 25 pounds for the last couple of days after steadily losing --is it a plateau already??? Terri -- worried in CT

For about two weeks after surgery the insides are swollen and as time goes on it gets easier to eat/drink more. I am sure it's just from your swelling going down that you are able to eat more. I wouldn't be concerned if it is taking you 45 minutes to do two ounces. Eileen

OMG Terri I don't know how to tell you this but your..............................................................................................................................NORMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! The swellingis going down and food just does not stay in the pouch as long. As you get to real food, it will take longer to digest and you will feel full longer. Don't worry. Peter

Terri You are doing GREAT. I am 2 1/2 months out and down -38lbs, so you have doing awesome actually. I still can't drink very much at a time without it hurting. As far as eating, soft foods go down well (fish, yogurt), but anything I have to chew feels stuck at times. The surgery WORKED; or you wouldn't have lost any weight... Keep up the good work. JA

Twrri, I am experienceing the same things. My first "meal" (scrambled egg) didn't seem to go too well. I felt full (could feel it in my chest) after about 5 bites, I had to throw the rest away. As I move along, I can slowly eat a little more, just have to take plenty of time for the meal! The same with water, if I drink too fast it causes discomfort in my chest, which really makes it hard to get my fluids in, in fact I have not gotten enough in for the day yet! I always fall about 10-12 oz short, but keep trying and each day gets better! Your loss looks great!!!! I weighed myself this morning and am down 18 lbs, which I thought was great (10 lbs since Wed). Our bodies are making lots of adjustments, so don't worry about a couple of days with no change. Keep getting your protein and fluid and it will pick up again! Carmen
