Kathy,
I found a Calcium supplement at the Vitamin store at the Westbrook outlets. It is called "Liquid Calcium Magnesium Citrate" It says it is easily absorbed on the bottle. It is made by a company called, "Lifetime". Here is a link so you can see what the bottle looks like and order it online if you want.

I asked Elina about it and she had me bring it in for her to check it out. She said it was a really good find and wants my empty bottle when I'm done with it to show to others.
Hope this helps!
Terri
Geesh! Almost one week and counting. Hard to imagine.
Calcium carbonate is different than calcium citrate. That is why you will not find both.
No one that I could find makes the calcium citrate in a chewable. You will be taking the calcium in other ways. For example, if you drink milk, there is calcium. Also in cottage cheese, yogurt and cheeses. Everyone thinks in terms of just taking the pills, but remember that diatary calcium is just as much calcium as anything else.

Hi Kathy~
Some little known tidbits about Calcium.
Citrate vs. Carbonate...
Carbonate is NOT the reccomended calcium for we post-op bariatric patients. It can make one constipated and does not absorb as readily.
The nutritionist that I see says to take CALCIUM CITRATE.
Now as to what brand to get...it is a matter of taste.
1. There IS a Calium Citrate in chewable form made By TWINLAB. They are chewable wafers and you would need to take 4 wafers to get 1000mg. They have a citrus taste, like sweet-tarts.
I found them too difficult to take and did not like the tartness of them.
So I take the calcium that Terri takes and that is also my next suggestion.
2. By LifeTime, the "Liquid Calcium Magnesium Citrate" that Terri mentioned to you above. It is so easy to take and does the job in 1 tbls. This is the calcium citrate that my nutritionist suggested that I use. I got mine at "Mrs. Greens" but can also be found at "Nature's Way" in Stratford. While I know this is a far distance for you they may be able to send it to you or you may be able to find another healthfood store locally that would sell it. It comes in many, many flavors and is yummy. I put mine in 2 tbls of yogurt, but the PA at my surgeon's office tasted it and says it is yummy on it's own.
Food for thought.
You will find the one that works for you.
Above all...stay away from TUMS!
Good luck.

This is where I get my calcium citrate in a chewable. I only have chocolate, and it isn't thrilling to chew, but that is probably because I a texture freak. They delivered very fast and they have a plan where they automatically send you the vitamins you need every three months.
