Bundle of Nerves
I have my appointment with Dr. Aranow's dietician at 3:00 today. I am a BUNDLE of nerves. I really have my fingers crossed that I have lost the 10 pounds. It's been HARD. I've been faithful for weeks now. I actually stopped weighing myself because it was stressing me out so much.
Did you post ops go thru a hard time with the presurgery weight loss? If I haven't lost all the weight I need to, I know I'm going to feel devastated. I won't give up, but it's gonna hurt.
Talk to you all when I get back!
Tammy relax and be proud of your accomplishments. The reason we all go through this surgery is because we are struggling to take the weight off in the traditional ways. Dr. Aranow wants to know that you are committed to the life style change that is ahead of you. He is not going to slap your hand. If they still want you to lose more weight he may schedule another follow-up appointment with the dietician or you may be close enough to the weigth that he gave you.
I went through a very difficult time with the pre-op weight loss. I had told myself that I would definitely take off the weight by the time that I saw the dietician because I didn't want to travel back and forth so often. When I saw that I was getting close to my appointment and the weight still wasn't off I chose to go to my own dietician who told me exactly what to eat for my short term goal. I wrote everything down and ate what she told me and I successfully lost what I was required to. I had to drop my calories significantly in order to make this happen and it was extremely difficult. I had to drop to about 900 calories in order to have the pounds start to come off.
Regardless of what happens today, you are still successfull! If it takes a bit longer so be it. Everybodies body reacts differently and you will continue to see that even after the surgery. Try not to compare yourself to others. It only sets you up for disappointment.
I am at a point in my weight loss where I am hitting alot of plateaus so I have pretty much stopped weighing myself regularly. I feel great and I have my life back! That is the focus of my life at this point and not the additional 40 pounds I still want to take off. Enjoy the process, don't let it become an obsession.
Best of luck
Carolyn
