Hi all, just wanted to stop by and say hi. I'm Noelle. I'm 23 from Plainville.
Due to a laundry list of health problems (Type 2 Diabetes, High Lipids, Hypertension, Acid Reflux) as well as the need to have spinal fusion surgery to correct a broken/slipped vertebrae and disc, I was referred yesterday by my PCP to see Dr. Barba at Saint Francis in Hartford. I'm awaiting an appointment with his office.
I currently weigh 265 lbs. My highest ever a few years ago was 305. Six months ago I was 280.
I haven't really been able to start my life independently due to my health, and I am ready to make a commitment to change that.
I have heard Dr. Barba is very good at getting insurance companies to accept the procedure. This is great, because I am on State Insurance (SAGA), due to not being able to work because of my back pain. I am in the process also of applying for Disability Benefits. I have been denied once, but now that I've seen a neurosurgeon and found out the real deal with my back, my lawyer and I are going to send in an appeal with the new information, and we're confident they will approve me.
Can't wait to hear from you all :)
Hello Noelle, congratulations on beginning the process to become alive again! a year ago, I too had the laundry list of health issues--but 8 months ago I had a gastric bypass and now I am living a whole new wonderful life! down 152 pounds with 70 to go (I was 396 pounds the morning of surgery)--I have no more congestive heart failure, no more hypertension, no more celebrax! my biggest issue now is whether or not I want to start my work out on the treadmill or the rowing machine! and I want to work out!
good luck with your legal proceedings...I will keep you in my prayers!
