I'm Home...

Hello All, First off thanks to everyone for your thoughts, words of encouragment, and prayers.. it's been a LOOONG haul these several weeks. Went to St Francis hospital Saturday evening & called Dr B on the way there.. said he was going to admit me.. (I was fading fast).  My blood pressure was 168/103!!  My blood counts weren't great and I was just plain hurting. They did the C-scan that night.. Dr. B came in early Sunday.. came back 1/2 hour later & said they couldn't wait & needed to open me up. Had one very very nasty gall bladder.. sounded like it was septic??  & Thank the good Lord I did not lose my old stomach or any intestine.. however had MAJOR scar tissue all over the place and a kink or two in my re-routed intestine.. it  was a mess.  He had to do a revision on my pouch.. it was adheared by scar tissue to my old stomach I think.. Messy. So cut open once again.. just got home a bit ago & took a hot shower.. walking like an old lady all hunched over & the recliner will be my best friend for the next few days.. but I'm thankful I'm alive and on the road to recovery. Down side.. my blood count is back exactly where it was 4 weeks ago that started this whole mess at Rockville Hospt.  Dr B didn't want to do a blood tranfusion as my vitals are good & color is good.  Said my body has been through enough & needs to recover.  (I do feel run down.. could sleep all day.)  So on a super dose of Iron pills & Vitamin C.. will see him next week. Still scared about the blood counts.. he assured me I wasn't bleeding internally & when in there.. he couldn't find an "ulcer" that RGH said I had..  It's about 3-4 weeks for full recovery.     He was so cute.. In his scrubs & he walked the hall with me today with his arm around me.. I love him as my Dr.. & that's why I chose him because of his compassion.. just wish his team at the new building could mirror him.   Having a really hard time with eating.. I don't have to go through all the stages of RNY surgery again.. jumping into "soft food stages" and to try others as tolerated.  Scared to after this mess.. It hurts just drinking.  Needs to be given time.. physically & emotionally. My room mate just had RNY surgery last night.. nice girl... shared all the positives with her.. & told her most important thing.. is fluids & protein to drink, drink, drink.. I'm amazed at the recovery process now.. she had it yesterday & is sent home tonight.  I was in for 4 days 3 years ago.  Only difference I notice is there is ALOT of testing...before being sent home.. circulation etc.. & she was going home with the drain tube. That's about it..Thanks again gang..  Hugs, Mickey
