Hello all, I hope everyone had a nice weekend. My family and I ended up going to the Big E yesterday and we had a great time. It was very crowded but the kids didn't seem to mind and they loved looking at all the animals! My reason for posting this is that, ordinarily when I would go to a fair like this I would see it as an oppurtunity to eat. Fried dough, corn dogs, ice cream, fried this and that and the list would go on. Let me tell you that I wasn't even tempted yesterday. Things smelled so wonderful but I wasn't hungry and didn't even want to eat. I had some grilled chicken and a balance bar and I was perfectly happy! I was also able to keep up with my kids better and it was easier to bend down and tie my kids shoes! I am only six weeks out and I can already see what a difference this surgery is making in my life. I can't even imagine what I will feel like next year!

Eileen, That is great news! My sister and I have always taken our kids to the Big E and it is always lots of fun. I didn't go this year because of my surgery falling in the middle of it all. But I am so looking forward to going next year ---- I will finally be able to go on the rides with my kids instead of standing on the sidelines while Aunt Kristi has all the fun. Congratulations on going to the fair and having a great time without all the added calories !!!! terri

Good for you Eileen!!! That's just great that you were able to enjoy without over-indulging. I find, now that I'm at goal and wanting to STAY here, that my strategy has adapted a bit. I wennt to the Big E on Sat with my hubby and sis. What we did was pretty much split everything we choose to eat. It was a little indulgent, but it's ok to do that once in a while. So, it worked out really nice. I got an order of perogies and we ate one each, got a stuffed quahog and ate 1/3 of it, split a kabob on a pita between 3 of us and ate 1/3 of a stuffed baked potato. Now, mind you this was over the course of 8 hours. My hubby indulged in a little ice cream and a candy apple, but I didn't feel deprived in the least. We had so much fun walking around and looking at everything, it was great. I can't believe the stamina I had to hang aroudn there all day! What a ball.
