RE: On my way for surgery-FINALLY!
Hello All,
Had a productive meeting with Dr. Barba today on my messy insides. I'll be heading off for surgery either this weekend (admit one day and surgery the next) or the very latest would be Tuesday,
However he knows I'm in pretty rough shape and I think if anything I'll be admitted Sunday sometime with surgery Monday. I can barely choke down water/fluids so I think he's afraid of dehydration etc...
He's calling me tomorrow to give me the surgery details and when I need to be admitted. He's going over all the tests I had at RGH with his team first.
Depending if I'm lap or open it'll be 3-5 days in the hospital and anywhere from 4-6 weeks for recovery to return to work. (maybe a little less)
My blood levels will be monitored since I'm still in "recovery" from internal bleeding and if necessary a blood transfusion will be given.
He doesn't believe my pouch or the by-pass has been compromised at all since it's my small intestine that's affected but will know more once his team goes over everything.
Gall bladder is DEFINATELY coming out. I told him I was putting a sticky note on my body with a smiley face so it gets removed this time.
I've lost about 12 pounds since this mess started.. a plus but a really yukky way of losing it.
I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, good thoughts, prayers, and concerns I appreciate this site so much for questions, answers, and support.
I'm happy this is almost at an end and I'll be able to move forward to my "new lifestyle" soon. I really MISS working out.. have been taking walks to keep my head clear but miss the weight training and cardio machines.. SIGH...
Hugs,
Mickey
