From what I have heard, insurance only pays if it is medically necessay. Therefore the excess skin would have to be causing rashes or some other problem directly related to the hanging skin. It also depends on your insurance plan, so call them to find out their policies. Carmen

Hi Millie, My insurance company paid for my Tummy Tuck and thigh lift. I had orginally went to one doctor and he did not submit the paperwork and documention well enough so I got denied. I them switched to Paul Fischer in New Haven on the recomendation of my Primary Care Doctor. Dr. Fischer was wonderful. I had never even thought I would get the thigh lift paid for. I was just hoping for the tummy tuck. The thighs were icing on the cake. You need to start documentationg as soon as possible all of the problems you have from the extra skin. I had my primary care doctor write a letter stating how the extra skin was causing me rashes. He also stated how I had stablized my weight for two years already. Doc Fischer took pictures of all of the hanging skin. He made me pull it out to show them how much there was. He worked extremely hard for me. I rate him a 10 on skills and bedside manner. I wish you luck. Colleen
