Does anyone have experience with Empire BC/BS PPO . I am have everything done but my appointment with the dietitian, which is Friday. I have not allowed myself to get excited about this whole thing for fear that the insurance company will say DENIED!!! If you have this insurance please share with me you problems or situations, so I can get ahead of them. Thanks in advance FR

You might want to call them yourself. The first thing I did before I called the dr.'s office to get started was to call my insurance company and ask them if they covered the surgery and what I needed to do to get coverage.

I have them. I have called and I gave them the cpt codes for the lap band surgery. I was told it is not excluded and they have approved it for people. It is not considered experimental anymore. Of course there must be medical necessity etc. I was told they changed their policy 7/1, this remains to be seen. I am hoping this is not going to be a problem. I live in CT also and have the same insurance. I have talked with the doctor's office and most have said they have never approved the surgery before. I am wondering if any of them have tried for approval since July. Good luck to you. Who is your doctor? Thanks, Joanne
