I'm on the 4 day count down - OMG!

They have to do an amnio on Monday, 4/7 just to check for lung development - the doctor explained that because I had insulin dependant gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and showed up as glucose intolerant with this pregnancy they just want to make sure the lungs are completely developed before they do the c-section.It is such a relief to know that I'll only have 4 days to worry about that stupid cord being wrapped around her neck. My amniotic fluid was perfect today! It went from a low of 6 last week to 16 today! Taking it easy and drinking tons of water really did the trick. I'm so excited (and nervous) - I am not looking forward to having a big gash up the front of my belly - but it will all be worth it when I get to look into my daughters eyes and meet the little lady who has been keeping me up nights!

Warm Regards - Tammy -

I'm so excited for you - I've been thinking of you daily and was waiting for an update!  LOL   If you've never had an amnio, do not worry for even a second! You're probably going to HH for that, right?  The high risk docs there are outstanding at doing amnios - I did not even feel a thing!  I was so worried about it and for no good reason!  When they said they were done, I was like  WHAT?  I didn't feel a thing.  About 20 minutes later, we had results.  I can't wait to see pictures!  We will all be thinking good thoughts for you on Tuesday!!!

Thanks!!

I did have amnios with Nathan - once when I was in my second trimester and one at the very end when they induced me - to check for lung development - I remember feeling crampy afterward - I just closed my eyes and I think that helped - it gives me the heebie jeebies thinking of that big huge long needle - ewww

I will be going the High risk group at HH - they are the best!

The only thing that totally stinks is I found out that my insurance has a co-pay for tests if they are done outpatient - so I'm going to have to fork over a deductible for the amnio but if they did it when I was already admitted it would be covered in full under my hospital co-pay of $500 - so instead of it costing $500 - I'll have to pay $900........I was thinking of asking the doctor to admit me before midnight on 4/7 to save $400 - we'll see if that's a possibility - I tried to call the office to see if I could get the amnio changed to 4/8 since I'll be admitted but it was too late on a Friday and my appt. is at 8:00 on a Monday! Oh well..........

Anyway - thanks for the well wishes - they are greatly appreciated!
