OK... Friday is my big day... I'm excited, but very apprehensive. And I have started my pre-op 1000 calorie diet (which is almost impossible) I have started to pack my bag for the hospital.. I just can't believe that I have waited a year and a half for this surgery and it's finally here! I just hope I have the will power that I will need after surgery ( I feel that I am lacking now!) I never realized how much I loved food... until you go without!

Hi Rebecca, Good luck to you on Friday! I know how it is when your date finally comes it seems so fast all of a sudden. I know for me it really takes no willpower at all since surgery. You will not be hungry and I find that food just does not appeal to me like it did before surgery. I will be thinking about you and wish you well and a very speedy recovery. Don't forget your lip balm! Sandy

Good luck Rebecca! Your going to do just fine. I too was concerned about missing food. And likethe person before me wrote I was pleasantly suprised by how little I think of food now! Your not hungry after the surgery even now 6 months after I do not have the constant cravings and wanting sweets that I had before. I feel wonderful and am 85 pounds less now wearing size 14's got more energy than i've ever had in my life! O take a big old tshirt to wear under the binder it makes it more comfy against your skin. good luck and god bless, pam

Good Luck on Friday Rebecca May your slide to the losing side be as uneventful and pain free as possible. I know you are excited and apprehensive right now but you will do just fine. Food will be come less of a focus in your life and all the changes that occur will move to the fore front. Its a great journey so fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride. Linda

Hi Rebecca, Breathe. There you go, feel better? You are educated, prepared, and ready to start a new chapter of your life, aren't you excited?? It's normal to be worried, we've all gone through it. You DO have the power to succeed with this surgery. It will be harder in the beginning, I wont lie, but every day gets a little bit better. Plenty of room for you on the Losers Bench. Come on over! Peace, -Deb

Rebecca, The feelings you are having are the same I just had a little over a week ago when I was 3 days away from surgery. I nearly walked out of the hospital on that day, I was so nervous. But what kept me there was the fact that I have been studying about this and wanting this a long time and I knew that I made a sound educated decision about my health. Try not to be to nervous, just think about all the positives that are about to happen to you. Just one week out of surgery I can say that my blood pressure has already gone down and I don't feel hungry at all. I can't say that when I see food that it doesn't look appetizing.... it does to me, I just don't feel hunger pains. Major surgery is no walk in the park, there is a little pain and limitations on what you can do for a while, but it gets better every day! The GREAT thing is ... I am losing weight and it is SWEET to see the needle on the scale going in the right direction for a change. You can do this! Hang in there... just take one moment at a time and you will get through it. Good Luck, Terri
