Good Morning Everybody, I am wondering if I should bring my T shirt to hospital to wear under the binder or they won't let you to wear it until you get home from hospital? Thank you for answering my question Kathy K

Kathy, I wore my binder for about 2 weeks. Then for an additional week at night when I slept. Joanie

I wore the t-shirt over the binder at the hospital. Not sure why you would want to wear it under the binder, but should not be a problem. You wear it as long as you need to. You will find yourself being comfortable without it for longer length of times, and eventully not want to wear it at all. Peter

Hi Kathy: Congratulations on your upcoming surgery date! You would wear the binder under your johnny or t-shirt. You may not even want to bother with the t-shirt. My incision leaked a little bit.You don't want to worry about ruining anything, plus the nurses help you with everything the 1st day or so and the johnny makes it easier if you are hooked up to IV's and so forth. I wore my binder for almost 2 weeks. Sometimes it was comforting and other times it was irritating. You'll know when you are ready to get rid of it. Best of luck to you! Carolyn

Hi, Carolyn! You brought up something that occurred to me. You say that your incision leaked a little bit. So the binder got dirty/stained, didn't it? And what about perspiration? If one wears the binder over a johnny, T-shirt or nightgown, doesn't it keep the binder cleaner (and more sanitary, in terms of the incision)? Because if one wears the binder constantly for a period of weeks, how/when would one wa**** BTW, these aren't rhetorical questions. My inquiring mind really would like to know (for when I'm in that situation). Thanks in advance for your answers, Debby

Kathy, If you want a t-shirt under your binder at the hospital, it is okay. Sometimes wearing it directly on your skin can get itchy and having a layer in between can make it more comfortable. I wear it under my shirt mostly but put it over my shirt too sometimes. At the hospital, I just had the nurse help me put it on over my johnnie when it got too itchy and wore another johnnie on top of it when I went for my walks. Terri
