I have a tough time getting in my fluids too. I can't tolerate plain water, not hot, cold, luke warm, nada. I get most of my liquid in by coffee. I know, I know, bad Deb, but it could be worse, it could be tequila!
B - wheat english muffin
S - Carb Well protein bar
L - roast beef slices, string cheese
D - wednesday is therapy so it'll be something quick and easy. Maybe a grilled chix sandwich at the deli, sans bread.
S - string cheese, if I'm in the mood.

Hi Joanie,
Try some hot decaf herb tea - it always helped me get in water at the beginning, and now that the mornings and evenings are colder (and I'm never hot anymore) the tea goes down nice. Of course, I really don't have any problems getting in my liquids - I've always been a big drinker
This is a tough week for me, church convention with services every night. My husband is a minister at the church, so we go for fellowship after each service and there is dinner served, which means I'm eating again at 10:00 at night. The only good thing is that the Bishop who is preaching the convention is on Atkins - so our menu is high protein, low carb.
B - Low carb bagel w/ 2 TBL light chive cream cheese
S - EAS Myoplex Carb Sense Protein Drink (25 g protein)
- s/f Jello Ambrosia (3/4 cup)
L - 3 oz tuna mixed with light mayo and relish
- baby carrotts
- grapes
D - leftover low-carb lasagna (will probably have this all week)
Late night snack - 2 oz salsa chicken, broccoli
Hope everyone has a great week.
God Bless,
Kathy Bilodeau
I hopped on the scale this morning and I'm STILL not down the 10 pounds I need to be down for the surgery. I'm SO MAD!!! I'm eating like a bird and dreaming about brownies for goodness sakes!
Anyways, today is even worse than yesterday....
B - carb countown shake (100 cal.)
L - Lean Cuisine Lasagna (270 cal.)
D - Progresso soup (220 cal.)
Some fresh veggies (probably broccoli).
S - Hopefully something to give me diarreah so I can lose this freaking weight and schedule my surgery. Just kidding. Probably sugar free jello.
This preop diet is so hard. I must have really messed up my body over the years with the yo yo dieting. I've never had such a hard time losing weight before (and being honest about what I've been eating too!!).
I meet with my dietician on 10/4. I am down about 9 pounds now, but that's my scale, and that's naked in the morning (what an image). I just want to be down enough so when I go, I'm positive I'll be able to get a surgery date.
Hope you guys have a good day!!
Hi Guys,
I too have a tough time with my fluids. I am only getting about
35-40 ozs per day, not counting the two cups of High-Test coffee
I drink in the morning, which I heard actually counts against your fluids... I drink a protein shake, which is 11 ozs, and then a bottle and a half of Propel which is about 24 ozs. I just forget to drink, even though I have a bottle open almost constantly, I get involved in stuff and totally forget.
Anyway, on to the menu:
B- Carb Countdown yogurt, 6 oz. cup
S- Protein shake, 11 oz.
L- Teeny homemade taco salad
S- Protein bar
D- Homemade pizza - toppings of 1 slice and half the dough
Hope you all enjoy the first day of fall.
Anne
What busy bees on this board today! Lots of posts to read. I just finished and iced decaf coffee (24 oz)--so with the protein shake I am up to 40 already... I have a 24 oz bottle of Propel in my lunchbox that I will tackle next. I see Elina tomorrow (dietician) in Dr. Aranow's office. I need to write down a list of questions I want to ask. Anybody need me to ask anything for them?? My co worker went home sick and I am without patients for the next 30 min...then I need to put my running shoes on..cuz I am booked for the rest or the afternoon.
Feeling Thin....
Joanie
Hi, Chryssie!
I like your idea of crumbling the Q-Smart bar into the yogurt.
I thought of something else you might want to try eating -- Boca Burgers or something similar. Since most of them have soy and some have beans, they're a pretty good source of protein. You just have to read the labels -- some are lower in carbs than others.
