Endoscopy

I had my one month post op appointment and I haven't been able to keep anything down. I am scheduled for an endoscopy on Monday the 20th and I am very nervous, they want to rule out a stricture. Can anyone give me some insight on this procedure?

Hi Michelle, So sorry you are having problems. I just wanted to let you know that I have had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy done on the same day and did fine. It's not painful at all just a little uncomfortable. If you're feeling a little nervous you might ask the doctor to give you something to relax you beforehand. Hi Michelle: Sorry to hear you are having problems. I had an endoscopy pre-op and was a nervous wreck. I was afraid that I was going to wake up and feel what they were doing. NOT TO WORRY. It was a breeze. I only woke up when the entire procedure was over and I was in the "recovery" area. I would imagine that the protocol is standard. They give me an IV and gave me something that put me out. It took no more than 30 seconds for the stuff to work. Out like a light. I remember NOTHING of the procudure. And waking up was easy and relaxed. The best nap I have had in years. Tell them you are nervous and let them know your concerns. Good luck. Towanda

Michelle, I can only loudly agree with Towanda. I had 2 strictures and 2 endoscopies. Make sure you tell them you are nervous and they just give you the best la la drugs and you'll be so much better afterwards. You'll be able to keep things down right away. It's a huge relief! Good luck Cheryl
