I'm working on an article about obesity and weight loss surgery, and could use your opinion. I know MY main reason for wanting to have WLS, but I'm doing an informal, unscientific survery... What was your NUMBER ONE reason for wanting to have weight loss surgery?

My number one reason was to try to get control over my type 2 diabetes. Since surgery my bloodsugar levels have become normal with out any meds. My diabetes is not considered "in remission". Chryssie 7/26/04 -39

I am sick and tired of looking the way I am. I am so self conscious when I go somewhere, I feel like a big lump and now I am starting to feel it physically. I just have slowed down and cant do the things I should be able to. good luck on your article.

Simple. Health. I am 26 and have diabetes and high blood pressure. Heart disease is a dominant trait and I am heading right for it....... No heart attacks for me if I can help it. Hugs Beckie

Number #1 reason for me was I felt like an 80 year old blob, aches pains, fatigue, depression, hopelessness, etc. Number #2 I want to enjoy life with my 5 year old instead of standing on the sidelines watching life go by. Good question.

I've never been thin, and I'm tired of not being able to do the things that I want. I want to buy clothes in a "normal" store, and ride any ride at the amusement park that I want!

Life. I want to enjoy all of it healthfully. I don't want to die a premature death and I want to be able to physically do things that I can't do at the weight I am at right now.
