Question about drinking protein drinks

I was noticing that the volume of powder in the IsoPure packets is quite large. The directions say to mix with 12 oz. fluid. How long does it take to get one of these things down? Do you split it into a couple of meals? When I look at the stage 3 diet examples, the protein drinks are 8 oz. Thanks. Now I have to get my rear in gear and get ready for work! Have a great day everyone! Terri

Hi Terri: I use Real Meals. Only 6 oz H20 for 1/2 packet gives you 30 gms protein. I mix mine with 4 oz choc carb countdown milk and 2 oz ff white carb countdown milk for the added protein intake. You can get the shakes in vanilla or chocolate. They come in resealable packets. I get mine at the Vitamin Shoppe. They have to special order it (at least Milford store does). It is a quality whey protein. It works for me. There are others. But I have only used Real Meals to date. _________________________________________________ Here is what Jon Policano had to say in an earlier post about protein drinks. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/state-forums/CT/postdetail/8319.html?vc=0 I HIGHLY recommend using high protein yogurt and milk by Hood. HOOD "Carb Countdown" line of yogurts and chocolate milk have 12 grams of whey protein per serving and is low in calorie. Two yogurts is 24 grams of whey protein and only 160 calories. I usually get in two yogurts a day and at least 8 ounces of Hood Carb Countdown Chocolate Milk. That = 36 grams of protein and only 260 calories. (I personally do not care for the beneprotein flavorless protein.) BSN brand has several "dessert" protein shakes, which come in excellent flavors. They offer 20 grams of protein and have 135 calories per serving.(They have Cinnaman Roll, Banana Nut Bread, and Coconut Chocolate Bar Flavored Shakes-you can buy it at Vitaman Shoppe or online at bodybuilding.com) Also Nitro-Tech, Pro-lab, and Isopure have good flavored protein shakes as well. You may want to try Protein replacement bars. Met-Rx, Lee Lambrada Brand, Clif Bars Builder Bars, and EAS all have between 20-35 grams of protein per serving. You may have to split the servings into two. _________________________________________________ Hope this helps. Towanda

Thanks Towanda for the great info. I am stocked up and ready to go, but if I can't take the drinks, it is good to know of the alternatives out there. Terri

Terri; I use the Zero Carb Isopure in the canister. I use 1 scoop with 1 cup of CarbCountdown milk. Liquids do not take me too long to drink. I fini**** with in 20 mins. I have a harder time with thin liquids like water, crystal light and so on. I hope this helps Chryssie 7/26/04 -38
