Hi Tom, Just wanted to wish you luck. I quit 14 years ago and never looked back. It is very difficult to quit. Mostly you need to find something to do with your hands and your mouth (sounds kinky, but it's true). Try to keep from putting food in your mouth. Gum may help. Keep us posted! Pam

Good for you Tom! That is a very difficult thing to do. I was up to a pack and a half a day until I quit and that was 11 years ago. It was one of the hardest things I have done, but so worth it. You will feel so much better. Hang in there and keep coffee stirrers handy. I always had one in my mouth and nawed them down to nothing when I was quitting to keep my mouth busy (without eating) YOU CAN DO IT! Terri

Tom, I know it is not easy!! My mom went through this and she did it! It will make more easier for your surgery in the future. Looking forward to meet you tonight! Kathy K

Good luck Tom! I quit about 20 years ago-I smoked two packs a day for about 19 years! I didn't do it cold turkey though....just gradually reduced how much I smoked....made myself stop and think about each cigarette I was smoking..instead of doing it automatically. By the time I quit I was down to two butts a day-and they were making me soooo dizzy! It was a breeze when I finally stopped. You might want to try the patch...I would have used that if it was around when I quit. Stay away from coffee, alcohol, all the things that you associate with smoking. I wish you the best!
