Million Dollar Maalox
I wanted to titled this the Million Dollar Fart..but thought it was too racy a title! Last night after going to the dinner, I stopped met my family at a neighhood party. I picked on a few cucumbers and tomatos. I have nad NO problem with them ever..and I was just bragging about that this evening. I have had raw vegies all summer with no problems. Around 10:30pm I went to bed and almost immediately started with cramps. I thought maybe a hot bath would sooth the pain. It intensed to where I was doubled over. Labor wasn't even as painful and I am no wimp. I really got scared. I had Bob(hubby) call an ambulance. He called my friend Donna (who is a nurse) and she came down and checked my pulse (was fine) Police came first...BP was fine. Paramedics came, I wanted to go to Middlesex, but the guys thought it might be too far if this was anything serious.(I live in North Haven) So..I decided on Yale...Saturday night..urban hospital...lots of colorful characters. The pain was intense at times and then lessened, which made me think it was more a gas pain after a while. They took blood, xrays and gave me Maalox with lidocaine which numbed my tongue and lips...guess it was supposed to do that for my tummy. It was amazing..within a half hr..the pain lessened to the point it was totally tolerable. I was just so scared, thinking there was a leak or stricture. ...Glad last night is over...no more cukes for me!
Joanie
Joanie,
Glad it was nothing serious and that you are feeling better. I can imagine what was going through your head when you couldn't figure out what the pain was. I am glad you played it smart and called for help, just like Dr. A says, even if it turns out to be nothing, better safe than sorry.
The racy title cracked me up!

Hi, Joanie!
I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious. Sorry you were in such pain. You said you picked on cukes and tomatoes, so how do you know that the cukes were the problem and it's not tomatoes that you need to stay clear of? Since both have seeds, could seeds be the culprit?
Hope you rest better tonight,
Debby
