Just starting the process and nervous
Hi Delicia...Congratulations on taking the first step on the road to the new you. I was with Dr Barba but had to switch only because I could not meet the BMI criteria of St Francis. He is the most approachable Dr I have ever met. He really cares about his patients. I highly reccomend the support group meetings. They are held the last Tuesday of every month except Dec. (for bypass anyway. they meet a different night for banding) I know alot of people from his program and the office pretty much takes care of all the insurance hassels. I also have Anthem BC/BS (swithched in Jan). I am sure the state has a better plan than what my husband's employer provides. My plan states that treatment is not covered, but I have gotten positive feedback stating that they do make exceptions. At the risk of sounding negative, I can tell you because of the high demand for Dr Barba's services, the whole process may take some time. Linda
Welcome and Congratulations on taking that first step in your journey. The decision to do it I think was the hardest step in this whole process. I am still pre-op waiting for a date. I have completed all of my requirements. I am from New Britain as well!! These people on this Board have been such a great support and so knowledgable on every question I have had. I have just recently started to meet some of the people in person and they have been so fantastick! It is so great to go through this journey with people who get it!
Welcome again!
Phyllis
