I have a date!!!!!!
Lois called yesterday and gave me a date!!! At first it was for the 21st. Today I had to weigh in and I DID IT!!!! Lost the required lbs. Lois then told me the date was changed until the 22nd. I went to the Pre-op meeting and met 3 other people scheduled for the 21st. So, right now I am the only one scheduled for the 22nd. After the meeting I think I finally realized "this is real!". Now I have 2 weeks to get mentally prepared. Anyone out there with any advice on how to make the next two weeks productive and get me ready mentally? Thanx all.
Linnie,
I was one of the '21st people at the pre-op meeting and had a red shirt on and short brown hair. That was such a good class wasn't it? I came out feeling very confident and much more at ease about this whole thing. I think I am going to keep very busy for the next couple of weeks so I don't over-think things. (I have been doing a LOT of that lately) I want to get my grocery list together and shop for all the powders and vitamins and soft foods that I will need. Pack a bag with the stuff I am bringing to the hospital. I am also going to prepare and freeze some dinners for my husband and the kids for a few days so all he has to do is warm them up. I want to try and catch up all the housework and laundry and make a calling list for Jack to make calls to people when I am out of surgery. And... I NEED to get my butt out there and start walking some more to get into better condition.... sounds like we are going to be pushed pretty hard to walk those miles around the nurse's station!
I have to say that as of the other night, I got so nervous about this that I couldn't even sleep. But as the day gets closer, I think I am getting excited about it. Thinking about feeling so much healthier and losing this weight and not having all the limitations to worry about because of my size. To be able to walk up stairs and take a hike up a hill without wanting to pass out and die. I am just going to think about all those positives and put the negatives out of my mind.
I hope to see you at the next support meeting on Monday.
Terri
Hi Linnie,
Congratulations on your date and best wishes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. One of the things that I did before surgery which really helped was to read a lot of the profiles and look at the before and after pictures. It really gave me a lot of encouragement. I also posted here a lot and asked lots of questions.
I don't think I could have gone thru this surgery without all of the wonderful people on this board.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers,
Mary Lou
Congratulations
The two weeks will fly by trust me. You'll go through a whirlwind of emotions, but know that this is normal. My advice would be to get out and do as much as possible with family, friends and loved ones since you will be out of commission for a bit after surgery.
Best wishes to you and keep us posted,
Maggie
Congrats on having a date!
The best advice I can give you is to measure yourself before surgery. It's a great way to measure your success without depending on the scale. I never did and it's my one and only regret.
Dr Aranow is also my surgeon and believe me, he's one of the best. You're in good hands!
Now relax, breathe, and you'll do just fine!
