Water consumption are they up with the times
At the meeting last night the nutritionist said that after surgery we have to drink 6 to 8 8oz glasses of water a day (after we heal of course). Did I hear that correctly? I was watching tv a few months back, (happened to catch Katie Couric) and she had this famous doctor/nutritionist/scientist on and he said that they have revamped their thinking on the amount of liquid one must have a day. They said that 6 8 oz glasses was great but not really necessary and all liquids count, not jus****er. so add up the juice, milk, water, coffee, tea, soup,...whathaveyou..... all liquid counted. Anyone else see the same show I saw? have any of the nutritionists heard this?

It is probably best to get as close to the 64oz at day but I have heard of similiar studies. I get the consumer reports ON Health publication and I recently read about a study with a similiar conclusion and that all fluids count even if they contain caffeine. It said that the amount you would have to consume to create a diuretic effect would be huge and that a normal person would be more hydrated not less after a cup of coffee. Something to think about but drinking low cal. liquids can also stave off hunger a little or at least for a short time
