Dr. Barba Patients-question
I'm a newbie, been lurking in the background. I called the office today to get a date for the next informational session and it I am all set for November 11th. Seems so far away. Can someone like myself attend a support meeting prior to having the orientation? I would like to get a feel for where other people are in the process and gain as much knowledge as possible. Thanks-you guys are so great here and so....o supportive, its very nice and refreshing.

Hey Melissa,
the answer to your question is YES!!! The information sessions are really REALLY very helpful. It is a GREAT way to get a feel for Dr Barba's staff. Each session there is a different topic at first discussed and then you are broken into groups. Those who are waiting for sugery and those who are post op. I for one am waiting. I meet with Br Barba one on one for the first time in Oct. I can tell you that having listened to him at the info sessions BOY do I love him. He is NOT computer savoy for sure But he knows his stuff. I have gone to 3 sessions so far and CAn't wait for the next.
Truly the staff answers every possible question that is thrown at them. Can you tell I am a firm believer in the meetings????
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Carrie
You can call and sign up for the informational session with Dr. Barba. You should call soon because I called two days ago and the soonest time was November 11th. You have to attend an informational session prior to meeting with Dr. Barba privately. Good Luck. I am too seeking the information on the support group meetings.

Melissa, the support group meetings are as follows:
Gastric Bypass - last Tuesday of each month (except Dec)
Lap Band - Third Tuesday of each month (except Dec)
Hope this helps. I attend lap-band mtgs - next one is 9/21. Maybe I'll see you there. Good luck.... Jen T
P.S. The meetings are held in the Gengras Auditorium which is in the medical office building of St Francis Hospital...Time is 6-8pm. They usually have a speaker and Dr. Barba usually shows up for the second half.
