First picnic
Yesterday I went to a pig roast at a friend's house in Waterford. Lots of my fellow retirees were there and we had a great time. There was LOADS of food...and dishes set out on the picnic tables in front of me. I ate more than I should have-and stuff I shouldn't have had like raw carrots (three little ones). I ate some of the pork, some limpias (Philipino egg rolls) and fresh fruit. It tasted so good this stuff....so I ate a bit more than I should.
All around people had plates heaping full of food-not interested. Carrot cake made by a friend that is the BEST carrot cake in the world was passed under my nose-the thought of one bite made me want to retch.
I realized that I did a bit of "grazing" even though I wasn't hungry-only because I was eating within a big social setting-a bad habit from the past. Just because I see other people eating doesn't mean I HAVE to! Lesson learned today.
I fully expected to see additional weight on the scale this AM...nope! Down another pound-now at 46 lbs lost since my surgery on July 6th. I celebrated by taking the dog for the longest walk we have been on-50 minutes. She enjoyed it and so did I! I figured out a route we can take that will have us walking an hour. Tomorrow we're gonna do it!
Funny thing, Bubbles (my dog) now jumps all over me in the morning, scratching at me, whining and racing around-because she wants me to get up and walk! How's that for a motivator? I love it! This AM I wasn't really in the mood-but she got me up and out the door and I'm glad I did.
Hope everyone is having a nice SAFE weekend!
Ann
Hi Ann,
Congrats! I went to a party last weekend. Had two shrimp ****tail, a spoon (small) of baked ziti, and a tad of the inside of a spinach bread (no bread just spinach). Like 4 hrs later they came out with Swedish meatballs, and I was gonna pass, but my friend told me to try them cuz of the spice. I ate one small one. Well when I got home, guess what??? I so you did well girlfriend!
I learned my lesson too...don't listen to skinny friends
I have two dogs (beagles)..a 10 yr old and a 2 yr old The 10 yr old is a great walker, the little one is too curious and pulls...but I take my older one and she squeaks the entire time cuz she's so excited to walk. They are the best, aren't they?? Unconditional love. They love us if we weight 400 lbs or 120 lbs!
Happy Labor Day...and congrats on your excellent weight loss!!!
