Another attempt to darken a surgery that saves many, many lives. The reality is that you this is indeed a major and quite complicated surgery, and most reputable surgeons make the patient fully understand the surgery and the risks. At the end of the day, obesity will cause premature death, so for me it was worth the risk, and it paid off. My health has improved in a dramatic fashion. I am a entirely changed person because of this surgery for the better. I would do this surgery again with a butter knife!!

I totally agree with Chryssie. You are paying for a top notch service. Make sure you get the best there is for you. Don't settle on a surgeon because they can get you in quicker. You can find a lot out about them and their track records online. Maggie

I watched the show. I do not feel it slammed WLS. It pointed out that you need to not only do research on the surgery but on the SURGEON. I know I looked into my surgeon as much as possible. I read all I could on the surgery but the skills & education of my surgeon was what was paramount. The surgeon they were talking about had NO BUSINESS operating. To a degree I feel the patient has a responcibility to do their part as well. Too many people think this surgery is a "simple miracle pill". It is not. It is MAJOR surgery. Patients need to ask questions, do research, talk to other patients and make sure you are clear on the training your surgeon has had. Chryssie
