Hi Cheryl,
I just found out about this meeting yesterday. Previously, I was driving to St. Vincent's Hospital for my support group. I was not thrilled with the Bridgeport location or the support group leader. It was strictly a psychotherapy group and little input from the WLS people. This new one sounds great. I spoke to the organizer this morning. She ran a group in Hamden before she moved. It sounds like just the kind of patient-based group I am looking for. The second meeting is May 1st at 6:30. I am looking forward to going. I thought some people on this website might be interested, because most of us have to travel to one of the larger cities to go to a support group.
Awesome Nancy that you found what you needed to keep the ball rolling in the right direction.
Bravo.
For anyone interested in the Norwalk area, there is also a peer run support group that is great. Well run by Steve C.
Here is the link to his latest post about the support group:

Our next Peer-to-Peer Bariatric Post-Op Support Group meeting will be WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH, starting at 6 p.m. in the First Floor Volunteer Conference Room of Norwalk Hospital.
We are a group of RNY-ers and Bandsters who are not affiliated with any particular surgical or hospital program who try to encourage and support one another by sharing our achievements and struggles.
Meetings are FREE, are OPEN TO ALL POST-OPS and we even offer FREE PARKING (with validation).
Hi Towanda,
You and I had our surgeries at the same practice. I had Dr. Tim Ehrlich do my Lap Band surgery. I know Dr. Neil Floch has been out ill for quite awhile, but his brother Dr. Craig Floch said he is returning to the practice soon. Dr. Craig Floch was on call at the hospital after I had my surgery, because Dr. Ehrlich left for vacation the same day as my surgery. I liked Dr. C. Floch and I hear wonderful things about his brother as well. I like the practice, but I was not happy with the support group. I am anxiously awaiting this new one.
Thanks for writing,
Nancy
Hi Cheryl,
The meeting is definitely going on in May, but there has been a change of date for May only, due to a conflicting meeting at the Prospect Library. The May meeting date will be May 8th at 6:30 instead.
I went to the April meeting and enjoyed it very much. There were about 12 people there and the leaders were very supportive and helpful. I will be going to the next meeting.
You can contact Marie, the leader, at:
[email protected]
or phone 758-6781
Hope to see you there,
Nancy
Cheryl,
I will be thinking about you and sending good thoughts your way on May 5th! Are you getting the Lap Band or gastric by-pass? I have the Lap Band and am losing very slowly, but it keeps coming off. Since getting it in December, I have lost 45 pounds-more than I ever have before!!
Getting to the meeting for May 8th might be a little difficult, because you will be very tired. I'll see you in June, then. Email the leader with the email address I gave you and she will put you on her list to notify you of meeting changes.
Best of luck to you,
Nancy
