Beta Blocker for Blood Pressure

Hi..its Joanie the Message Board Hog of the morning...See I DID miss you guys! Need to share this. I was put on atenolol, a beta blocker for high blood pressure and have been on it since May. Dr. A told me to see my PCP to wean me off of it..not to stop taking it by myself..there were side effedts. Well..this weekend I forgot my medication....and had not taken it for two days. Saturday morning after my dumping episode I woke up with a headache and felt awful all day. I attributed it to the dumping...but I never heard of it making you ill that long. Riding home yesterday...I realized that may have been a side effect from not having the meds. I did feel lousy all day Saturday. I decided not to take the med last night..since I did the cold turkey thing...LOL I am going to call my PCP today after I have someone at work take my BP...and see if I can stay off the meds... Joanie, My BP meds were making my blood pressure "bottom out" and it made me feel sooooooo sick. I almost passed out one night and that's when we figured out what was happening....started reducing my meds gradually and voila! All gone now and I feel much better! Good luck with this Ann

My BP was 135/85 this morning..I am going to check it again this afternoon. I have a call into my doc to see what he says about it too. Joanie
