OT: Anybody want two cats???
This makes me very sad but I need to find a good home for my two six year old female spayed indoor cats. My grandchildren are allergic (had the cats before the grandkids). Last year the grandkids moved to another state and with my cats they can't visit overnight without getting sick. So I am definitely going to choose the grandkids over my cats.
They are calico's named Charlotte and Emily after the authors, the Bronte sisters. Tonight I will post their pictures on my profile.
They are amusing and loving. Two separate personalities, one a lovey dove and the other with more of a cat attitude. They have not been around a lot of people - just my husband and me. When company comes they magically disappear until company leaves.
Completely litter box trained. Never outside accept for an occasional accidental curiosity trip and the screened in porch. No health problems. They haven't even ever had fleas!
If you are interested PM me.
Thanks,
Bev
Thanks for the solidarity Kathy. I don't think giving them away is going to be an easy job. Everyone likes kittens.
I don't like giving up animals. I always felt they were part of the family. We had a dog, Patches, until he was 14 years old. He was my sons constant companion growing up. What a good dog.
And it's the same with my cats, they are good cats and good companions. They don't deserve the upset their lives are going to take switching homes.
But I gotta do what I gotta do.
Thanks,
Bev
I agree that your grands come before your kitties.
that said, I have an option that might help you enjoy both.
Check this out at the HFS.
My mom is highly allergic to cats and now can come in my house with no problem.
It is a homeopathic remedy, not sure if children can take, but you can contact the company to ask.
BioAllers is the manufacturer.
Main website is: http://www.bioallers.com/
The product name is: Allergy Relief Animal Hair & Dander

Hi Towanda,
Unfortunately, I have a d-i-l who loves this excuse not to come to my house. When I have recommended allergy medications in the past, the suggestion was dismissed. And I can't say that I blame her. Even though your recommendation is homeopathic I don't think she will go for it.
Thanks for the help.
Bev
Thanks Rich,
I didn't have Grandmothers growing up. I have the picture in my head of the kind of Grandmas from television and I'd like to have my Grandkids think of me like that. So them being able to come to "Grandma's house" is something I really want. And to be able to spend some time for them to get to know me 24/7 since they live so far away from me.
The kitties are cute though.

Once my kitties are gone I plan on vacuuming the whole house and washing every surface. But until they are gone anyone who is allergic to cats knows that the dander is everywhere. On the fabrics of the furniture, the curtains, etc. so even though they wouldn't be exposed to the cats themselves, the traces of them are everywhere. I myself was allergic to cats, I went through 3 years of shots and taking allergy medications and now I'm not allergic anymore. But I remember when I was I got sick from playing with my cousin when she visited because she had played with her cat before she left the house.
Nice try Towanda. I appreciate all your attempts to help me. But I'm still searching for a home for my cats. I think I'm going to visit the local veterinarians and put up posters.
Thanks,
Bev
I do wish you the best of luck finding the Kitty Sisters a home. It's so hard to find loving homes for cats. Just a short trip to the humane society proves that. Maybe you'll have some luck though! You could try posting on Craigslist.com they have a pet section, and petfinder.com is a good resource. I looked on petfinder when I was looking for a pup.
If that doesn't work- perhaps you can consider confininf the kitties to one room in the house?
Again, Good luck!
Best,
