Monday meeting at Middlesex
My sister-in-law who had WLS 4/04 told me they have meetings at Middlesex on Mondays, and as I am considering my options,my husband and I were considering attending. My question is are potential candidates interested in gathering information pre-surgery welcome to attend and also would my husband(who is not ow,welcome but anxious to find out for my sake what it all entails)? If so could you tell me what time this evening and where at the hospital I should go, since we'll be driving from Mystic and I wouldn't want to be late. Thank you very much for any info.(tried to call sister-in-law but couldn't get ahold of her and Dr Aranow's line has been totally busy)
Peter,
Yes both my husband and I attended and sat in the last row. Your stories were all very interesting and informative. The main reason for my considering this option is because I have diabetes and with my last round of bloodwork, they discovered I am in the very early stages of having my diabetes affect my kidneys. Dialysis is not something I want to deal with at 48! I did not get to talk with anyone afterwards as my sister-in-law *****commended Dr Aranow, also attended and we were talking to each other. I am in a quandry at this point in time. We have TRICARE insurance who as of 9/1 is going into contract with Healthnet. Currently, we only have permission under the old contract to use Yale, which I, from past experience have a little hestitation with. All of my paperwork and required letters are at Dr Bell's office who has not called back to say if I am a candidate or not(which I understand is normal), it takes time. I would like to be given the option I think of using Middlesex if Healthnet would cover my care at that facility. So many things to look into, it can become a little overwhelming, but it is nice to hear real people help bring some perspective to the topic. Thanks to you and all of your family.
