Update on me
Well Sat. was one month since surgery and I'm down about 22 lbs +/-. But the best part is that I walk a minimum of 3 miles a day. I feel great physically. I've had some issues with food, and I guess for the time being, I can't tolerate chix, so I bought some ground turkey, and I'll try that tonight. All in all, I am still elated that I did the surgery. I'm a tad disappointed that I'm not losing as much as I thought I would, but Dr. Bell told me because I was on the smaller side of most of his patients, that that would be the case. As long as I lose, I am not going to complain. I'm considering going to Jamaica for my b'day, which is 9/4, but worried about what I'll eat, although they have lots of fresh grilled fish there! I need some sunshine in my life; this summer was to dreary for me!
More good news is that I am fitting into clothes that I could even get on this spring! YAHOOOOOO! My aunt was at my house to visit yesterday, and she got all excited and said your face is thin! I inspired her to start weigh****chers. She is a diabetic who quit smoking five yrs ago and gained some weight. She the last of my aunties on my mom's side, and I want to keep her around (she's 70). She's lost 10 lbs and is going strong! So I cooked her some healthy food yesterday, and we had a great day!
I want to thank everyone on these boards for all the support you guys provide for me! There are days when I so desperately need this board, and I am grateful it's here!
So today I make the decision about Jamaica, and I think I'm gonna go, and I'll pack a few yogurts in a cooler bag as a back up.
Happy Monday all!

Hello JA
Your doctor is right!!! Everybody are different from our sizes . We cannot compare to other people who lost weight.Since you are feeling better and feel more engery than before. That is most important. WE all can learn how to deal how to eat different foods and new life after this surgery. I will be next one soon this fall. I noticed I learned new habit by looking at labels on food products. I never do that in the past. I am still learning from all of you and is working on changing to break my habits.I am looking forward to see you again on Sept 11.
I am so glad you are going to Jamaica to enjoy yourself! They have shrimps and fish there. bring protein bars and protein power drinks with you. Is someone come with you to go Jamaica? take pictures and show me for next party ( I will be post-op for next party, not Sept 11th)Maybe after Holidays party!!!!
Hugs

JA,
Congratulations! You're doing great. I can't imagine being able to walk 3 miles already! (I was on bedrest for 2 months post-surgery.)
It took me awhile before I could tolerate everything, but now I can tolerate too much ... ack!!
I too was and continue to be one of those people who doesn't lose as much. My doctor told me the same thing -- I was small starting out, so I wouldn't lose as quickly as others. But I'm 10 lbs. shy of 100 lbs. lost & it's been less than a year, so you'll be golden.
Keep doing your thing!!

Kathy,
wow 90 lbs! That is awesome!!!! I'll take the weight loss any way I can get it. Plus, having my life back again, is so wonderful, I'm not gonna complain!
For once in our lives, we're considered small BEFORE we lose weight, isn't that funny?
Keep up your good work, and thanks for the encouragement.

Come back to Jamaica, your new island home.
Remember that slogan? OK, so I'm dating myself.
Keep up the faboo job, you're doing great!
Remember, we all lose weight at our own pace, and I had a 4-week plateau right after surgery...talk about depressing! But it'll kick start, you just need to give your body some time to recover. Surgery is big stuff!
Keep it up!
