Another Post-op question re: meal planning for family
For those of you who do the cooking and meal planning in the house. Did the loss of appetite right after surgery make it difficult for you to make sure everyone else in the house ate? Did it make you feel nauseas(sp) or hungry? What was that like?
I know my babies won't go hungry, but I just think about how much enjoyment I get in planning, cooking and eating our family meals and wonder how that is going to change post op.
Thanks again,
Terri
Hi Terri,
I don't know how many mouths you have to feed, but I had my husband who can't cook anything, and my 5 year old daughter. I bought some frozen pizzas, and some TV dinners. I told him to buy chinese or McD's
so that I wouldn't worry about him attempting to cook and burning down our kitchen. He did fine. It was only a few days and then I had the energy to stand there and cook. I thought I would be nauseous cooking, but it didn't bother me. It was just hard to stand up for long periods of time and cook. If you have any fmaily in your area, a mom or mother-in-law, sister-in-law, maybe your family could eat there once or twice also.
Now I still enjoy planning and cooking the meals, I can't say I enjoy eating as much, but that's fine with me. You'll work it out with a little planning.
Good luck,
Anne
Terri:
I did not mind cooking for my family. I actually enjoyed it. It pretty much replaced my "need" to eat. I did not cook the 1st week but after that I have been. The smells do not bother me and I have not been hungry since surgery. I am sure everything will work out for you. Best of luck to you.
