PLEASE SHARE YOUR PLASTIC SURGERY EXPERIENCE!
Hi, there!
I'm a CT post-op who is looking for a plastic/reconstructive surgeon to do a body lift. Would you please take a minute to share what you had done, where it was done, who did it, were you pleased with the results, and about how much did it cost? I have an estimate from Dr. Borkowski (offices in Middletown, Clinton & Madison) but I want to get a few more and feedback about different surgeons.
Thank you for any assistance/info you are willing to share.
Take care,
Deb
Hi Deb,
I had a TT last October (lower body lift.) The PS is named Colleen Jambor out of Enfield CT/Johnson Memorial Stafford Springs
She was fantastic & took off about 4 1/2 pounds of skin & I also had a little lipo-suction done on my "bumper" that regular exercise wouldn't take off. About another pound of fat came out of it.
I actually am going in for a revision in April with more skin removal. I've basically "deflated" from all of the cardio & exercising/weight lifting I do. She plans on removing an additional 4-6 inches of skin off my sides & towards my "bumper" right now it's a little deformed looking. Nothing that she did wrong.. just my body shape changing from what I'm doing "right" with exercise.
I'm paying out of pocket this time & originally last year. I paid around 7grand last year for the whole thing including hosptial stay (overnite) This time it's under 3 grand & I'll be home the same day.
Hind site is definately 2-20 & had I known my body was going to change so much from all of the working out I would have held off longer on the TT. However no regrets.
Dr. Jambor is awesome...very caring & understanding... really listens & has worked with by=pass patients before so she "gets us".
PS.... she's gorgeous... inside & outside.. beautiful lady with a caring spirit.
The best valentine's gift for me... my hubby he has been terrific with all of the surgeries... & just wants me to feel my best.. never flinched when I mentioned the cost for the revision.. Just told me to "do it"
Let me know if you need anything further & good luck on the PS definately shop around.
Mickey
Thanks Mickey! I go to Enfield once or twice a month, so I'll definately consider her as an option. I do want to continue with my regular workouts for a while before getting my torso reconstructed, but my arms will be ready for work much sooner. I'll be paying for everything out of pocket, so price will be ONE of the factors for consideration.
Take care,
Deb
Hi Deb. Dr. Borkowski did all my reconstructive surgery (I refuse to call it plastic surgery) - I had three separate surgeries: (1) TT and abdominoplasty; (2) breast lift and arms, done at the same time; and (3) lower body lift. My insurance covered everything, although I had to appeal on two separate occassions. My PCP was very involved, citing medical neccesity; I submitted very graphic photos of severe rashes that would not go away. I worked with a physical therapist, who documented that the excessive redundant skin was compromising my mobility. It was worth the fight. As for Dr. Borkowski, I am very happy with the results, although he will not fight for insurance - you have to do that with your PCP. Typically, plastic surgeons have a clientele base that doesn't need insurance coverage, so he does not get involved, nor does he want to. I don't know if other PS are different in this regard. Best of luck - the breast lift was the best decision I ever made!!! Maureen
You are absolutely right to call it reconstructive surgery as that is EXACTLY what it is! I only used the term "plastic surgery" in an effort to enlist the most responses. I'm waiting for the prices, etc. I may get my arms done soon, then wait till late summer to have the full body lift, after I KNOW my torso will be stable. Thanks for sharing this with me/us!
Take care,
Deb
