Question for lap banders and pre-op diet

I'm on a two week pre-op protein diet, and I have to admit I'm not doing as well on it as I'd like--stress, family get togethers, etc...don't seem to help.   Is there a chance that my surgery will be postponed?  Has anyone had a similar situation?

Well I've heard of a doctor going in for surgery and deciding that the surgery wouldn't be safe because the liver was too much in the way - so he "closed" up and sent the person home.....

You've gone through so much to get to this point.....hopefully you can find the strength to get yourself together - good luck!

Just a suggestion - go to the mainboard and start a thread "Any pre-op dieters out there".  You will get many responses from people who are in the same boat as you...let them be your support system to get you thru this.  The two week preop diet sucks.  No doubt about it.  But you need to clear your head and do this the right way for your own health and safety.  When I was going through the liquid diet, I relied heavily on others on the main board who were going through the same thing...it helps to know ou are not alone.  Good luck!

I had a similar question a few weeks ago.  I had a 1000 calorie pre-op diet.  I was worried about my liver but successfully had the surgery on Monday and was told my liver was small.  The doctor told me that surgery could be stopped if they found the liver too big.  I had oatmeal for breakfast, an atkins advantage shake for lunch with a salad with fat free dressing and dinner was meat and veggies. Good luck to you!

I'm having surgery tomorrow and for whatever reason, I didnt have to do a pre-op diet, except no eating late tonite or tomorrow before surg. I did have to lose 20 pounds before surgery and I will be on liquids for 3 or 4 weeks post-op. Not sure if this is normal, but I didn't question my Doc about it.....maybe I should have ??

I have heard about other people that didn't have a pre-op diet.  Just relax tonight. Tomorrow will be here before you know it.  Are you staying overnight?  Good luck!  My surgery on Monday went well and I am feeling good.  I am not sure I am enjoying this low fat full liquid diet though.  I am getting tired of it already! I got through 13 days of liquid pre-op perfectly.  How?  I posted every day on a different topic relating to the Pre-Op Diet Challenge.  It kept me honest.
