Came Home from the Hospital Today
Julie- I was at the hospital yesterday, and when I checked to see if you had left, I was so HAPPY to see you gone!!
I'm so glad that you're home and feeling OK.
I think that realistically you're looking at feeling kinda crummy at the incision site for about a week. It gets exponentially better from there. Don't forget...keep on walking. It will help you to heal.
YAY FOR YOU AND WELCOME TO THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!!!!
Keep in touch now...
a HUGE hug,
Lisa
Welcome home Julie, and congrats on being a LOOSER! who would have ever thunk it...we're so happy to be loosers! LOL.
Yup, you'll feel pretty 'ugh' for about a week, and walkwalkwalk as much as you can. It'll help you heal, help kick start your body and it's good for your mental state of mind.
Remember, I'm right in New Britain so if you need anything, just holler!

Welcome Home Julie.
I didnt even feel like getting online for a week..so you are doing great!! The incision hurts for about a week...wear the binder...sleep in it..it really helps...I wore it for two weeks. Ensure? does that have too much sugar in it for you? I had a problem with protein shakes at the beginning. Take it easy...get well soon...and when you are able...get out there and walk
Hugs,
Joanie
I have to say that the only time my suture line hurt me was when I would sit up in bed or getting up out of the chair. My partner, who is a nurse, gave me the best advice about how to get out of bed with the least pain...swing your feet over the edge first then pull yourself up to sitting. I braced my sutures with a pillow for the first two weeks when getting up.
My doctor, Dr. Valin, has a pain pump installed for the suture line for his patients...so the rest of the time I felt no pain. Only when I sat up or stood up and that pain lasted only until I was sitting/standing.
I really was lucky-I didn't experience pain at all...except for sitting and standing. I used the morphine pump VERY sparingly and when I did hit it it wasn't for the pain-it was to help me fall asleep! I know I'm probably an exception...but having a relatively pain-free experience is not out of the realm of possibility.
I'm five weeks out now and the biggest complaints I have had were my blood pressure bottoming out due to the fact that I was overmedicated (my weight loss made the meds unnecessary) and the dizzy, weak feeling I've been having lately due to my blood sugar dropping. I'm starting to get control of that by eating more (believe it or not!)
Everyone's experience is unique...you sound like you are right where you should be at this stage!
CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME TO THE MELTING SIDE!
