I dumped too - 1st time!

Reading about poor JA yesterday, I was thinking, wow I am lucky I haven't dumped at all in the 11 weeks since surgery. I had to throw up a couple times when the pork got stuck, but never really dumped. Well, that changed today! I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak wrap at lunch from an Italian deli, and ate the insides, not the wrap. I just got sick now, an hour and a half later. I had a stomach ache, then got the sweats, diarrhea and vomiting all at once. I am at work too! Thank God my boss is out today. Hopefully the phone didn't ring while I was in there for 15 minutes! That was the worst feeling. I'm glad it passed so quickly. I don't know if it was the fried onions, or the steak slices. First time I have had either... Well, it will be the last time also! My stomach is still grumbling, I hope round two isn't coming up! I should have ate the salad I brought. I guess it wasn't my best idea yet! Live and learn! Anne

Hi Anne So sorry to hear about your dumping episode. I hope you are feeling better now. I think it may have been all the grease. I hope it is out of your system by now. Luckly you were near a bathroom and not driving or in a public place. Hope you feel better. Luis

Hi Anne, Sorry! I feel your pain! I ate an egg for lunch today and got a weird feeling, but no dumping. I'm not trying anything new for a while. Hope you're feeling better. It's the pits getting sick at work! JA

Hope you're feeling better, but Anne, at 8 months out I'll still dump if I eat all the grease!! Call me strange (many do) but I'm happy I still can't tolerate fat/sugar, it helps to keep me on the straight and narrow. Good luck! And yes, you will learn...trial and error, my friend! -Deb

I didn't even think about the grease content at all. It just looked so good on the menu. That is the first time I have had something like that. I will definitely avoid greasy foods in the future. AND, I was just telling my husband about it, and I told him I am glad it happened, because it will keep me eating healthy! I haven't tried sugar, and don't plan on it, but this is re-enforcement! Oh poor you and JA! I've been there. God, what a feeling. Then you get discouraged and you don't want to eat anything ever again because that feeling is like death! Well, Deb is right, trial and error, and it IS good that this happens to people .. it forces you to eat right. (Prolly why Deb looks so GREAT!) Take it slow Anne honey. Tara

I just wanted to chime in here.. I definitely have a problem with greasy and sugary food.. and I'm GLAD!! That does force you to stay away from them. Any time I have a bad experience with a food it turns me off of it right away.. so I won't make the same mistake twice. I know how those Phillys are.. I think it was just too much grease. It does suck dumping in public. I was at Walmart.. if I hadn't known what was happening I might have called an ambulance. I thought I was going to pass out. Anyhow.. hope you feel better tonight! Hi Anne, Thanks for the info about what happened to you. I'm having surgery on Monday and now I know to avoid the greasy foods post-op. I have no intention of trying the sugar either! Sandy
