Life Insurance

Does anyone know whether it is difficult to obtain a life insurance policy after WLS. I thought I read this somewhere but now I am not sure. I am wondering why it would be more difficult. Thanks for your help Sandy

Hi Sandy, I don't know why but I had to pay more for life insurance post-op despite being normal weight and much healthier. I think it may have been that it was within the first year from surgery. I am going to have the agent check again this year. I got the insurance but had to pay more for it. Insurance companies are not the sharpest knives in the drawer or maybe they are they did get a couple of extra dollars from me. Dave 274-high,237-day of surgery, 137 now Dr. Bell, 5-28-03

I have heard that people do have a hard time obtaining life insurance post op. I am not exactly sure why. The insurance companies seem to feel we are a bigger risk post op. I would think it would be the other way around!!! Chryssie
