I'm Home!

Well, I'm home after a successful surgery. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had the LAP-RNY, so there is very little incisional pain, and the inside just feels like I did some MAJOR stomach exercising. They gave me Tylenol w/codine but I haven't used it. The most pain comes from burping and coughing (that really hurts). I'm looking forward to seeing my son tonight when he comes home. They started me off slow at the hospital with stage 1 yesterday, stages 2 and 3 today, making it a four day stay. They are trying to slow it down a bit, and look to having people start off slower. Boy, was I ready to go today. I must stay it's so weird not feeling hungry. And all the air that's booming around in there confuses me with hunger pains, but I know its not that. Then I drink two sips and I'm full. WOW! I hope the next week goes this well. I'm going to shower now, rest and wait for my baby to come home, Anne

Hi Anne, Welcome home! I'm glad your surgery went well. I remember the coughing was terrible...I was so glad I quit smoking a few years ago, I used to cough like crazy, and I was happy I didn't have to deal with smoker's cough - which I had for several months after quitting. The burping was uncomfortable too, but walking around helped me with that. I did slow laps in my house to get the air up and out. Happy homecoming with your baby! See you soon. You are on the road to better health now! Congratulations! Anne

Ann, Welcome home ! I'm sure it's great to be there. Yes, the air moving around feels like the "old" hunger feeling. The first two weeks are tough, but after that...it's fine. I'm two weeks out, and I feel like a new person and don't even feel like I had surgery at all! Enjoy your son! And take good care of yourself. Welcome to the "losing" side! It's a great place to be! Anne: Welcome home!!! I know how excited you must be to be reunited with your child. I could not wait to snuggle up with my 4 year old once I got home from the hospital. You will do grea****ch out for the hiccups. The burping and coughing did not bother me much but the hiccups were not fun. Get lots of rest, fluids and walk as much as you can. Keep us updated as to how you are doing!!! Chryssie
