I'm going for my 3rd CIGNA appeal. They wanted 3 months of a doctors supervised diet. I've lost 1/2 a pound! WHOOWHOO!!! I should know next week if I'm approved or not, next time I will spend the extra out of pocket and go with good medical insurance like Anthem or ConnCare. If I'm approved, I'll have this done at Midstate Medical Center. Has anyone been there?

It is interesting how someone can have the same insurance and different experience. My experience with CIGNA was a breeze. I met with my surgeon, he wrote a letter of medical necessity. I faxed it in and one day later I was approved. No diet history or psych eval or anything was asked for. I was prepared to fight and appeal. When I was approved in one day, I sat down and had a good cry..I was in shock because usually nothing comes easy!

Hi I worked for Cigna and there is a big difference in everything. Some things get denied and you sit there thinking what planet were they from and others you sit there and say how could they approve this. I have had information come back saying they require a year supervised diet to no supervised diet at all. I always assumed it depended on the mood of the reviewer (my assumption, not fact).
