Rough few days

Hi everyone, I've had a rough few days, but I woke up this a.m. and feel a little better. I think I'm just mourning the loss of one of my best friends, "FOOD". Unfortunately, it's a good loss. This morning I got up and walked about 1 1/2 miles, and I feel better. But boy, I cannot wait to have some solid food. This is tough, a lot tougher than I ever thought it would be, but I know I gonna make it! Just a little venting going on here. Thanks for listening. JA

Wow! You are doing great, walking 1 1/2 miles! I thought I was doing good just walking around the block! YOU ROCK! I know exactly how you feel about missing the solid food. I'm cheating right now by adding solid food to my diet slowly a few days before I'm cleared to do so. I couldn't take those one ingredient meals any more! So far my pouch is tolerating it...and I feel a whole lot better! Question, are you on BP meds? If you are and you've dropped a bit of weight, your BP meds might be too high. That's what happened to me...they made my BP bottom out a lot and it made me feel soooooo sick!

You are SO going to make it -- you're going great!!! I can't believe you're already walking 1 1/2 miles! I had complications & a 2nd surgery a week after my 1st, so the concept of doing so much so early is foreign -- I was firmly planted on my butt at that point in my recovery. But I soooo remember missing food. You will, however, be back to eating soon, albeit less food. It's really takes up so much of your life in the beginning, but as the months roll on it becomes more second nature. Keep doing what you're doing -- which is everything right!! XO Kathy F.

I know exactly what you mean, JA. Thank God it does pass though. The one thing I find being hard is that I am out a lot (work and restaurants) and I look through the menu. It takes me a long time to see what I can eat. Plus, looking at the things I would like to eat, but can't, is very difficult. It's all psychological. You will get though it. We're here for you, so vent on, my sistah! Tara

Hi JA, Hang in there, it will get better. And until then, vent to us all you need to! I did the same as you, I mourned the loss of Food too...but that friend was replaced by a new and better friend...Shopping! Shopping is my new best friend, and I can't wait to introduce you to her! Ah, the good times we will have! Hang in there, my friend. each day will get better. When your watching TV be in control of the remote and don'****ch and food commercials, or the Food Channel. -Deb

Hey JA: Glad to hear you are doing a little better. You will do awesome!!! I don't really miss food yet. Everything just looks gross to me. Great job walking. I am still sore in the belly and not walking all that much. I am doing more every day. Take care, Chryssie

Hi JA Sure glad to hear you are doing well. That is great that you are walking, and walking pretty far too. Missing solid food, you will get over that real soon. As the old saying goes, "Time flies when your having fun." Are you having fun yet. Don't worry, solid food is right around the corner. It will be here before you know it. Stay healthy and have a good weekend. Luis

JA.. I just wanted to let you know that all of those feelings do go away. It just takes a little time for you to adjust to your new way of living. My brain was playing such mind tricks on me.. I wanted to eat everything and so mad that I couldn't. It's a hard thing to overcome.. but it does happen. There are still small struggles on a daily basis, but being 2 months out I would do this all over again. Anyhow.. it's rough, but once you get on to solid foods your choices are much greater and the feelings should subside. Have a good weekend! Keep up the good work. Michelle
