Hi everyone! Quick question for ya. I have an erosion in my esophogus. I've had it forever and I've been on Nexium for a while. Bad reflux. Had it forever. Has anyone else had this experience before surgery? I'm afraid it will hold up my surgery, but I've been faithful about taking the meds. Not getting much better, but it's not getting worse either. Let me know if you have had an issue like this! Thanks!

Hi Tammy, I have not had surgery as yet and I also take nexum for reflux. I have gastritis and it has not stopped the process. Keep your eyes to the future and smile Pattie D

Hi Tammy, I am pre-op, and have had GERD forever too! I take prilosec, and I think the gerd is actually one of the things, that is going to help push my insurance thru! The Dr stated it as a co-morbidity. It hasn't slowed my process at all. Robin R

I had GERD as a diagnosis prior to surgery...it was one of my morbidity conditions.... Since the surgery I have not had to take Nexxium. As a matter of fact they told me NOT to take it! I have had no reflux and I was experiencing this almost daily-even with the meds, prior to the surgery. This won't stop your surgery...it will however increase the justification for having the surgery to your insurance company. GOOD LUCK!
